Hanoi to host Quang Nam culture and tourism week

Monday, 16 November 2009 09:01

Quang Nam tourism and culture week will take place in Hanoi from November 20 to 23 with aim to promote culture, history and tourism of the central province of Quang Nam to Hanoians and domestic and foreign investors.

This event will be organised to welcome Vietnam culture heritage day November 23 by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, People’s Committee of Hanoi City and People’s Committee of Quang Nam Province at Vietnam Culture and Arts Exhibition Centre, 2 Hoa Lu Street, Hanoi.

Performances entitled “A night in Hoi An’s old quarter and a night in My Son” held during the festival will recreate the Hoi An’s streets in 17th century and a jubilant traditional festival in the sanctuary of My Son. Traditional dance and singing by ethnic people in Quang Nam will be the highlight the festival. Folk arts and traditional clothes of the ethnic groups will be displayed.

It will display the province’s social and economic achievements and honour the cultural values in Hoi An City and My Son Sanctuary on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the UNESCO-recognised world heritage sites. The event will strengthen co-operation between Hanoi and Quang Nam in economic and social development.

The festival will bring to Hanoi the specialities, cuisine and exhibitions on culture, history, tourism and handicrafts of Quang Nam. Paintings, sculptures, photographs and installations featuring the province will be on display.
